48 years ago, on April 22, 1970, activists and various states of the United States organized a dance evening to honor our planet and called it Earth's” Day”.
Thus, for the first time, concern over environmental problems arose.
A two-hour parade took place on New York's Fifth Avenue.
In this case, over 10 million American school students were given special lessons on the environment, emphasising the importance of environmental protection; and the U.S. Congress suspended their work so that its members could participate in activities organized in the respective countries on Earth Day.
That same day, about 10,000 people gathered on the lawn in front of Washington's Monument in the U.S. capital to call on the Government to take stronger steps towards environmental protection.
Since 1970, when Earth Day first began to be celebrated, it continues to be celebrated each year in various parts of the world with various activities.
The Environment Protection Movement is supported by people from all walks of life - teachers, students, artists, politicians and ordinary citizens.
What began in 1979 as just a move to protect water, air, and other natural resources has been expanded today
