“Albania will enter the EU, but there are not a few problems”, writes “Die Welt”. With an article titled “Mak Albania strike against”, the renowned German newspaper echoes Prime Minister Edi Rama's visit to Berlin, writing that in the German capital, former baseballist and artist will aim to lure Chancellor Merkel with his charm, with the aim of thereby receiving its support for opening membership negotiations.

“Rama, says the paper quoted by “Deutsche Welle”, has what it tells you. The economy grows, Tirana fills with glistening facades, a reform in EU-led justice has taken its course...”.

However, there are people who are skeptical when the issue of its quick EU membership is carried out, the German daily ʹ points out, and this scepticism relates to stories like that of October, when the prosecution demanded the removal of former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri's immunity because his name was mentioned several times in calls between Albanian and Italian drug dealers”.

The German newspaper pays attention to all developments regarding the case “Tahiri” and agrees with Rama's response, as asked by “Die Welt” regarding the embarrassing “Tahiri”, says:

“I believe primarily that suspicions against a person cannot impede the efforts of an entire country”.

The paper stresses that “is one of these cases that disrupt and define Albania's image in the rest of Europe”.

To date, the country has not been completely convinced that organised criminality has strongly seized the economy and its tentacles to the highest levels of government. “Dine Welt” recalls that, in the INTERPOL report for 2017, Albania ranks among the largest cannabis producers in Europe and is described as the important trade point with cocaine and heroin. /Top Channel
