Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic says his goal is for the number of countries that have recognised Kosovo's independence to be reduced below 100.
In an interview with the newspaper “Politika”, Daciq said he has formed a team of people, which deals only with the issue of reducing the number of countries that have recognised Kosovo, suggesting that it is a priority for him in Serbia's political activity.
Asked whether there are real opportunities to do so, Dacic said that “garanton” something like that.
The “first started working in that direction for countries to attract recognition... People from Fiji have no idea they have recognised Kosovo. Some have not even recognized it, but they are on the list that the Kosovo Foreign Ministry has”, Daciq said, forwards the Telegrafi.
He added that the foreign ministry is working to reduce the number of recognitions, but other ministries should also pay attention to the issue.
Asked whether Kosovo will get a chair in the United Nations, Dachic said this “means that Serbia should tell Russia and China not to fight against Kosovo's entry into the UN”.
Can you imagine me doing that? To tell Lavrov and my Chinese counterpart that I have already been mocking this”, Dacic said, adding that a compromise should be reached on the Kosovo issue.
Asked whether the outcome of this compromise could be for Kosovo to get a chair in the UN, Dacic said it is possible, if the Serb side accepts such a thing, but in no way could it be otherwise.
Commenting on the importance of a mandatory legal agreement, Dacic said no one knows what that agreement represents.
Regarding the Association of Serbian municipalities, the minister said he thinks there are no people in the European Union who reason that Pristina does not want to form association.
Daciq said “The EU will pressure the formation of association because it is promised”.
The chief of Serbian diplomacy said it depends on the Serbian side if on April 20th Kosovo Serbs form the Association.
