Coalition Reaction Comes, Following Opposition Warnings for Falling Pro motion

Ruling coalition parties say they do not fear an eventual opposition motion to overthrow the government, because according to them, the current government is stable and cannot have new elections. The current coalition consists of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, the Social Democrat Initiative, the New Kosovo Alliance, as well as members of the non-Serb communities. While the Serbian List has issued three ministerial posts and is positioned in the opposition.

By the moment of the Serbian List's release, opposition parties have proposed reaching an agreement on setting the date of early elections. On the contrary, as they have been declared, they will initiate a no-confidence motion for the collapse of the government.

Memli Krasniqi, chief of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, said opposition parties' statements about the motion are not serious, and, according to him, in this situation there can be no results of a no-confidence motion against Haradinaj government.

The government has the necessary stability and absolutely cannot afford any motion to be successful. Despite this, we should look to the prospect of our country's needs. Kosovo at this moment absolutely does not need elections, but needs work and stability”, Krasniqi said.

On the other hand, he says that the position of the Democratic Party of Kosovo is for this government's mandate to reach its end.

The ruling coalition with Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj had 62 votes in the Assembly, but after leaving the Serbian List's co-governance, the coalition now has only 52 deputies out of 120 as the Kosovo Assembly totals.

The head of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo Parliamentary Group Ahmet Isufi said the Government is stable, and, according to him, while there is functional and dynamic Government, it deserves to complete the mandate.

“Seeing the configuration that exists in the Kosovo Assembly, we consider that the election cannot be the cause of the opposition vote. However, it is an opposition obligation to seek elections and work as hard as the Government is corrected in its work”, Isufi said.

Given the current situation, the Government does not have the majority, but neither does the opposition have the 61 votes needed for the collapse of the government, unless it joins the Serbian List.

Ideas for the collapse of the government have been initiated mainly by the Democratic League of Kosovo, as well as the last by Vetevendosje Movement leader Albin Kurti.

But, on the other hand, Independent MP Group chief Dardan Sejdiu does not think there is anything serious yet in terms of raising a no-confidence motion against the government.

MP Sejdiu said Wednesday after the assembly of Kosovo's Parliament Speakership that the Independent MP Group is interested in through various initiatives, along with opposition party groups, changing the format of the current government.

There is no situation at the moment in which we can talk about extraordinary elections because there is no concrete initiative, except that hypothetical situations”, Sejdiu said.

Awareers of political circumstances in Kosovo say Haradinaj Government finds it difficult to survive, because the ruling coalition is fragile and cannot push ahead with many important processes, as according to them there is no majority in the Assembly. / REL
