Police in Bosnia arrested 12 people, including a former Bosnian commander, under suspicion of committing war crimes against hundreds of people during the 1992-1995 conflict in Bosnia.
They were arrested in connection with the deaths of several hundred people, including Serb civilians and military prisoners, as well as Bosnian Muslims, the police said through a statement.
The 12 arrested, including retired commander Atif Dudakovic, have been members of a unit operating in western Bosnia.
All have been arrested this morning, during raids in several cities, the Prosecutor's Office said in Bosnia.
An estimated 100,000 people have died in the war in Bosnia and about two million others have moved.
The peace agreement was signed in Dayton, Ohio, in 1995, but tensions between the three communities -- Serbs, Muslims and Croats -- remain.
