Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has said he is ready to resign if the president agrees that the current coalition will continue ruling without holding early elections, the BBC broadcast.
Fico has said he is ready to introduce a candidate for prime minister from his party.
His statement comes after the scandal caused by the killing of Slovak journalist Jan Kuciac and his girlfriend, Martina Kusniova.
Kuciac was investigating government corruption when he was killed.
“Today, I have offered my resignation to the president of the republic”, Fico said at a news conference, followed by REL.
If the president agrees, I'm willing to step down tomorrow”, he added.
