Russia's President Vladimir Putin, who is towards his fourth term, has dismissed charges of poisoning former Agent Sergei Scripal and his daughter in London.
Speaking to reporters this Sunday evening, he said that “is absurd and senseless to think that Russia could do such a thing before presidential elections and the World Cup.
“Regarding this tragedy you mentioned, I've learned about it from the media,” told reporters.
He dismissed the theory that he was a toxic agent of the military class who was used in poisoning, because if so, “people, of course, would have died instead of”.
Putin reiterated that Moscow is open to co-operate with London to investigate the poisoning, provided the United Kingdom has the same interest.
