New platform for Kosovo dialogue proposed

The need for an internal dialogue with Kosovo citizens, and in particular with the Serb community in Kosovo, should not affect Kosovo's civic state and unitary constitutional functioning.

So it was said in the workshop that the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) held with members of civil society, media representatives and Kosovo Assembly deputies.

The lack of transparency, non-compliance and disrespect of reached agreements and agreed-on deadlines, continued renegotiation, the government's lack of accountability to the Parliament, and the failure to comply with the Parliament's resolutions were some of the issues raised by participants.

The need to change Kosovo's approach to this process of dialogue and to formulate a state strategy on topics, format and epilogue of this process was considered extremely important for the new phase of dialogue.

Participants unveiled the options Kosovo has for further steps in this process, arguing from the need to suspend this process to assess the already reached agreements, to build a Kosovo state platform on the basis of a comprehensive team consisting of political parties and supported by an expert team.

It was stressed that the road to the EU for the two states relates to this process, so Kosovo must build its European agenda and become the function of its state priorities.

This worker discussed that the Kosovo Assembly should be the country of discussion agreements and mandate the new Kosovo side negotiating team. The need for Kosovo to continue to lobby strongly for its agenda in these talks with EU countries was stressed.
