News for astronaut DNA was fake, that's the truth.

For a moment, NASA found itself in the center of a digital ill-information campaign. The day before the media reported that Astronaut Scott Kelly spent an entire year in space and returned as another human. Scott Kelly lived at the International Space Station for 340 days, and his identical twin, Mark Kelly, stayed on Earth. When Scott returned to Earth, 7 % of his genes had changed.

Good news, right? Too bad it's not true.

This week, dozens of media published stories with this or similar information. They cited a NASA study on the effects on the human body during a space travel.

Our cells have the same genes, which are made up of the same DNA, but genes behave differently; this is how some cells produce hearts while others build lungs. The way genes are expressed can be influenced by changes in the fundamental sequence of DNA, by random mutations that we experience and collect in the course of our lives. But genetic expression can also be influenced by all types of environmental factors, such as stress and diet.

While the study certainly revealed some interesting changes in Scott after his return, the space did not change 7 percent of Scott's DNA, the genetic code found in the cells in our body, does what we are.

What Study Is NASA found out that some of Scott's genes changed their expressions while in space and 7 percent of those genes didn't return to flight after he returned. If 7 percent of Scott's genetic code changed, as some of the stories showed, he would become a completely different species.

Mistreatment of the study results spread both rapidly this week, in publications such as CNN, USA Today, Time, People, and Hupot, but also in Theme Tv. Scott Kelly herself was deceived. What? My DNA changed by 7 percent! Who knew? I've learned this from an article, connecting it to a Newsweek article .” That can be good news! I should never call @ Shutle CDRKelly my twin brother because we're not identical to”

The Scriptures achieved an increase Thursday. The geneticists who saw this news told social media to prove it wrong. Scientists behind the NASA study, surprised by how fast and harsh the wrong news was spread and bombarded with calls and emails from journalists. They faced a record of telling the truth. I never thought I'd find myself with false news”, says Christopher Mason, a geneticist at Weil Cornell Medicine in New York who led the study. (He will be on NBC night news on Saturday trying to explain what happened.

“Mark and Scott Kelly are still identical twins,” said NASA, “Scott's DNA didn't change radically. What researchers have observed are changes in gene expression, which is how your body reacts to your environment. This is likely within range for people under stress, such as mountain climbing or diving”.

This whole thing was a mess.
