Gift Hoxha, Minister of European Integrations, has indicated that after ratification of the demarcation in the Assembly, EU institutions will launch visa-free procedures.
Hoxha has expressed optimism that within this year, Kosovars will be able to move freely to EU countries.
She has said the procedures could take up to six months, based on practices in other countries.
Below, find some statements from her talk:
In June 2012 he accepted the visa liberalisation guide with certain criteria to meet
Since then, institutions have been subject to a rigorous assessment by the EU for visa liberalisation, we have done work in this direction.
Yesterday the Assembly met the remaining key criteria, ratification of demarcation.
With that, I thank the MP for granting him favor by accelerating his freedom of movement.
I want to share some information on meeting the criteria of fighting corruption.
Under the anti-crime team, the special prosecution has targeted 39 cases, 30 charges were filed, seven cases closed.
For liberalisation purposes, the criterion against fighting corruption has marked progress, and we are expecting final assessment from EU institutions.
Kosovo to submit completion report to corruption report
During this year we will complete the EU procedures to ensure the implementation of the EU regulation and therefore free movement.
This goal implies these steps:
Starting negotiations on completing regulation between three commission, parliament and council institutions
Sending to the Council of Ministers
Council of Ministers Approval
Council ceremony
And finally publishing the official paper and entering into force.
These procedures take more than six months. We expect to last six months based on practices in other countries that have carried out these procedures.
This procedure is conducted by European Union institutions.
We are optimistic that within the procedures that I mentioned, citizens will move within the year 2018.
