The Justice Ministry's Media Office reports that Minister Abelard Tahiri has received Kosovo Judiciary Council Chairman Nehat Idrizi, Supreme Court Special Chamber Chairman Sahit Sylejmani, as well as the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kosovo Privatisation Agency, Petrit Gashi.
The purpose of this meeting, according to the announcement, was to co-ordinate joint actions regarding ensuring the functioning of the Supreme Court's Special Chamber in case of the end of EULEX's mandate and to speed up the work of this court.
Minister Tahiri argued that the work of this court directly affects the dynamics of the privatisation process, and especially the distribution of trust funds to employees and creditors of social enterprises, as well as the carrying of remaining means to the budget of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to Minister Tahiri, the EULEX Mission has achieved its goals and that its contribution, especially to this court, has been irreplaceable. Next, Minister Tahiri assured those in attendance that the Ministry of Justice has prioritised procedures for changing the law so that legal grounds for replacing international judges with local judges can be allowed and that this process is moving at the right pace. For more, he stressed the need to speed up the work of this court to enable the rapid distribution of trust tools as the fundamental right for workers and creditors.
It is unacceptable that because of the scarce resources and the low dynamics of this court's work, workers and creditors wait for years to get their legal share from the privatisation of social companies. The justice ministry is determined to take all actions within its mandate to make sure the principles of the European Convention for Human Rights are being implemented for a trial within a reasonable time interval”, the minister stressed.
The joint commitment to working on ensuring the continuation of regular work in court is stressed at the meeting, especially after the international judges' mandate ends.
