Although Kosovo's public debt has reached the value of nearly 1 billion euros, institutions have never measured the efficiency of its use.
The Ministry of Finance in its quarterly public debt reports presents only numbers and institutions from which it receives loans, but does not provide information about their destination or economic development effect, writes Koha Ditore.
According to data published on its website, from 2013 to 2017, public debt in the country has doubled. In 2013 the public debt was 476.2m euros, at the end of 2017 it reached close to 1 billion euros.
This caused the total debt share in Bruto Local Product (BPV) at the end of 2017 to be 16.63 percent, up from 8.94 percent to four years ago.
