Already when the Demarket Agreement with Montenegro was ratified in the Kosovo Assembly, EU officials have mentioned meeting the other condition, fighting corruption and organised crime.
Meanwhile, Kosovo authorities aim to convince the European Union that they have fulfilled the latest criteria for visa liberalisation, through a registry for fighting serious crimes that speaks of 7 decisions of definite form, 39 cases marked, 30 charges filed, and 23 cases found on different levels of judicial review. In the case mentioned as a number, institutions have not presented concrete information to people involved, nor to criminal acts, writes Koha Ditore today.
While Kosovo government officials have been declared optimistic that liberalisation will occur within this year, EU officials and member states have said Kosovo should provide sufficient evidence that it has fulfilled the last criteria. A day after the demarcation ratification, the government and judicial bodies have been mobilised to coordinate actions about the fight against organised crime and corruption. But not everything will depend on Kosovo, as the decision-making of institutions to give green light from the European Union can take time.
Based on previous cases of other countries, Integration Minister Donus Hoxha has said he expects all procedures not to take more than 6 months' time. She did not rule with enthusiasm the day after the demarcation had been ratified, nor has champagne been opened, as Hoxha's predecessor, former minister Bekim Colak, and his staff were not met with the last two conditions. Hoxha has said they will celebrate after the whole process ends.
