France has honoured today the police official who died to save the lives of hostages taken during the attack on an armed man Friday.
Arnaud Beltrame, 44, has been shot and stabbed after switching places with one of the hostages.
Flags are in half-study at gendarmerie bases throughout France.
His brother Kadric has said that Arnaud's steps were “beyond his” task.
He gave his life for someone foreign. If that doesn't make him a hero, then I don't know what he can do to”, he said about a French radio.
French President Emmanuel Macron has honored the police by saying he has “dead as hero” and that he deserves “the respect and admiration of the entire nation”.
British Prime Minister Theresa May has said that “sacrifice” of the police should not be forgotten, writes REL.
His steps have helped end the attack in which three people have died.
Radikal, Redowane Lakdim, has been identified even later by police.
Another 16 people were injured in the attack Macron has named an act of “Islamic terrorism”.
