One 45-year-old Albanian national has found death and two others have been slightly injured, due to a fire that broke out Monday afternoon at a factory in Greece's Volos industrial zone.
According to local sources, 45-year-old, whose name is not yet made public, was conducting oxygen weldings, along with two other employees -- those Albanian citizens -- in the refrigerator area at a food plant in Volos, at the time that, under still unclear circumstances, fire broke out.
In an attempt to escape, the victim was drowned by gases and smoke and was found by firemen on the front steps of the job, just two metres from the environment that became a deadly trap for him.
Two other employees were sent to the hospital because they too had asphyxian symptoms, but after receiving their first aid, they left for their accommodations.
Ten firefighters arrived in the area, as well as police forces and ambulances, but it was impossible to save the victim, writes Top Channel.
After three hours of effort, firefighters can put the flames under control.
The 45-year-old is the father of three minor children and lived in the town of Alices in Volos. His body was taken to the morgue while a legal doctor was expected to confirm the causes of death.
The food plant in which Monday's accident took place was closed for several years and no one knows what operations were being done in it, as according to police, none of the three Albanian employers were found in the place that fire broke out for fear of an arrest for violations of security conditions at work.
Police said they are investigating the event, while the testimony of two other Albanians is expected to shed light on what happened.
