The European Union's representative to Kosovo, Natalia Apostolova, has said ratification of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro from the Kosovo Assembly is an important step towards the country and citizens.
She has stated that the vote on this agreement showed Kosovo's determination to build good neighbourly relations and lifted the pre-end condition for visa liberalisation for Kosovars.
But Apostolova has not left without mention and condemned the Vetevendosje Movement's efforts that through tear gas prevent the vote of this agreement, stressing that such behaviour has no place in Kosovo politics.
“We wanted to congratulate Kosovo lawmakers for the job done. It has been long, with even sad occasions, all this way, but the result was ultimately the right one for the citizens of Kosovo. We hope that such co-operation practices as this one in the case of ratification of this agreement will be indications of the future. Now attention should be focused on fighting crime and corruption. We expect work to continue in meeting this latest criterion for visa liberalisation”, it has stressed.
