HOW disturbed that landslides are occurring on new roads

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Rexhep Kadriu has said it is disturbing that landslides are occurring on new roads, built in recent years.

He made these statements after inspecting the collapses of roads in the Botushshe-Kosare segments, Rakos-Osojan in Krnica and the Pristina-Peje road axis in Balinca.

Kadriu has said that a commission will be established that will inspect and assess the damage caused by the last landslides of the earth as a result of atmospheric rainfall. He also said that the time has passed for emergency road construction and that quality roads and high standards must already be built.

We are now in the inspection of the World Council Road, 8.3km long, where there has been a landslide on the street, an investment of the Ministry of Infrastructure and which has cost 800 thousand euros along with additional costs. These landslides are happening to us on new roads that have been built for the past three years. This is the fourth case, and three more we will visit during the day. This phenomenon is of concern to the ministry and to those of us who have taken responsibility towards citizens, for a new and better standard of roads. These slides are happening to us by means of heavy rainfall and on roads that were released in 2016, and this made us realize that there was no seriousness in building these roads. The previous governance has not taken on other road construction standards. The time has passed for emergency road construction, because Kosovo citizens must have other roads and high standards. Now we have to save the serious situation and require additional means to be completed, but we will take the measures and tomorrow we will form the commission for all roads, where there has been landslides in the Republic of Kosovo, which will find out why it has come to this situation, when we have slides and leaves on the field of”, Kadri said.

Deputy Prime Minister Kadriu has said that for roads under construction companies, there will be no budgetary implications, because those companies are obliged to sanctify the damage done.
