In a joint statement issued by the high representative for foreign policy and security, Federika Moghrini, Commissioner for Migration and Home Affairs Dimitris Avramopollos and the one for neighbouring and enlargement negotiations, Johannes Hahn, welcomes ratification of the Agreement on the Border, but it is called as the “one of the key criteria for visa liberalisation, thus making it clear that it has not been the last condition, Koha Ditore writes today.
Thus, as various EU sources in Brussels have said, the focus should now be on meeting the last condition -- the one related to fighting organised crime and corruption.
Today's “Reatification of the Agreement for Demarcing the Border With Montenegro, on the part of the Kosovo Parliament, presents a real achievement, a welcome and concrete progress, which is very much in the spirit of good neighbourly reports, as well as the European Commission's new strategy for the Balkans. Ratification is also the fulfillment of one of the key criteria for visa liberalisation for Kosovo. As President Juncker has said during his recent visit to Kosovo, it is a strategic step towards visa liberalisation, which will primarily benefit Kosovo citizens”, the joint statement said.
