Up to 180m euros is expected to be the investment of an Israeli company in Kosovo, in wind energy. “Enlight Renetable Energy” have claimed to have acquired the rights of a 105-megawatt project, which will be the third largest in the Balkans in this form.
They even claimed that it could bring an annual income of 25 million for the first 12 years and 15 million each year later.
The company says it is in talks to secure up to 80% of the funding, and that is where the problem lies.
Tribuna Channel learns the company is close to bankruptcy. This company is part of “Eurocom”, and its chief, Shaul Elovitch, is one of the shareholders standing in prison because of debts and financial manipulations.
The contract of this agreement is hiding from the Kosovo government. They're not even showing agreement or reacting if that wasn't true.
Contacted by the Tribuna Channel, the Ministry of Economic Development has not commented on this project. Reference to the Energy Regulatory Office.
The latter are unaware of such a project.
“Z RRE, it has not accepted any apps from any Israeli company for obtaining authorization to build new generation capacities from the BRE.”
Political field acquaintance and Rockefeller Brothers Fund director Hakki Abazi said that Kosovo has been signing problematic and secret contracts in the energy sector for 18 years.
Because of lack of transparency, the Kosovo government has been signing problematic contracts in the energy sector for 18 years, but not only. The company in question has serious problems, and what appears to be a hidden agreement the Kosovo government has favoured this company to benefit from the sale of licenses or any contractual agreement with any other investors. It is also not ruled out that the possibility of this being done in order to delay the development of renewable energy capacities to justify investments in coal,” is said to Abazi.
It is said that this company is waiting to get approval, and then its experts will start building windmills to bring energy in 2020.
Tribuna Channel contacted the company for days but didn't get any answers.
