Manchester City leader Ferran Soriano has fired a blow against Jose Mourinho, saying the trophy won with a defence philosophy brings only empty “”.
Soriano, who arrived at the Ethiopian Stadium in 2012, was important in the behavior of Pep Guardila in the blue half of Manchester.
Speaking to the silver digital newspaper Infobae, he repeated his vision for City:
Our version is to win beautiful football. The idea that we've conceived in the last five years is the concept of the game always playing beautiful football”.
We adapted our philosophy to Manuel Pellegrin and now Pep Guardilla has taken it a step further”.
What's going to take us to another level is to play nice soccer. It's not a theory, it's practical”.
When we went to Barcelona, they had finished the seventh season, and after the change that started in 2003, we won everything”.
If we had won the same title without playing beautifully, it would be an empty” victory.
Guardiola failed to win any team last year, his first in the helm of City, while Mourinho United won the EFL and UEFA Europe League Cup.
When asked about Mourinho, 55-year-old criticised City's spending earlier this season, Soriano insisted that United's boss's words were wrong.
He said: “If you see the 10 most expensive purchases of all time, none of them play for City”.
“A we have Paul Pogba, [Romelu] Lukak, Neymar or [Keylan] Over again? Of course, we made an important investment in the transfer market, because we had to change the age of team”.
But all the players we bought now will be worth 100 million pounds, and besides that, Manchester City now makes a lot of money”.
We haven't spent more than three years economically, so I don't see any reason for criticism”.
Soriano also acknowledged that the signing of Barcelona star Lionel Messi was a dream he could not even give.
He said: “We would all like to sign with Messin, but that's where he wants to be and his signature is not possible”.
