Al-Husseyin warned that the Myanmar government is trying to destroy evidence of possible international “crimes”, including the “crimes exercised against humanity”

United Nations High Commissioner (OKB) for Human Rights Zeid bin Raıd al-Husseyin has said that he has powerful evidence that from August 25th in Myanmar, genocide is being exercised against Arakan Muslims, AA reports.

At the 37th session of the UN Council for Human Rights, al-Hussein expressed concern over the 900 thousand Arakan refugees who have been forced to take refuge in Bangladesh, as well as the Muslim community that has remained in Myanmar.

My “Zyra believes ethnic cleansing in the province of Arakan is still continuing”, al-Hussein says.

Al-Husseyin also warned that the Myanmar government is trying to destroy evidence of possible international “crimes, including the “crimes exercised to humanity”, passing deliberately on mass cemetery.

“Victimes reported that Aracan's Muslims were subjected to murder, rape, torture and robbery and that they were deliberately forced to stay hungry, preventing access to food resources. As this Council is aware, my office has strong doubts that acts of genocide are being carried out in the province of Arakan from August to now, said al-Hussein.

He called on the Council for Human Rights for the creation of a new, independent and impartial <x0mechanism” for the discovery and trial of the perpetrators committed against Araban Muslims in Myanmar.

According to the UN's latest data, since 25 August 2017, about 700 thousand Arakani Muslims have fled to Bangladesh as a result of violence in Myanmar.

Satellite images of international human rights organisations show that more than 350 Muslim villages have been burned in that area.
