Thaci visits Kosovo's Olympic team: Joining the Olympics, Major Victory for Our State

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has visited the Kosovo Olympic team, which is participating for the first time in the Winter Olympic Games and has wished the only representative of our state, skier, Albin Tahiri.

Thaci has reiterated that Kosovo's own participation in the LOD is a big victory for our state, while during yesterday he considered it the best <x0-secondary award for the 10th anniversary of Independence”.

“In the Olympic village of Pyongchang, today I visited the Kosovo Olympic team. Kosovo skier Albin Tahiri, I wished him success in the upcoming events. His and Kosovo participation in the Olympics is a major victory for our state”, Thaci wrote on Facebook.

This is the first time Kosovo has participated in the Winter Olympic Games. While the first time Kosovo participated as a state in the Olympic Games was in those summer games in 2016 in Rio, Brazil.

Kosovo was the 71st state on the team list that passed through the Pyongchang Olympic Stadium in South Korea. The rankings of countries were made according to the Korean alphabet.

Kosovo's Olympic team led the flag carrier, skier Albin Tahiri. The team was also made up of coach Agim Pupovci, Kosovo Ski Federation Chairman Milaim Kelmendi and media official Kufim Krasniqi.

Tahiri is the only athlete to represent Kosovo in these games. He has won the Olympic rate in five Alpiik skiing disciplines.

Tahiri will compete in slalom, large slalom, super slalom, rapid launch and alpimatic combination.
