Thaci expects final agreement with Serbia to be reached within this year

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has said he expects that within this year the final agreement with Serbia will be reached, since losing this moment would mean many years the hostage of each other in context of the European future. In the debate area in Klan Kosova, he has declared dialogue [...]
In the debate area in Klan Kosova, he has stated that dialogue is not easy but is necessary, that meetings with Serbian President Alexadar Vuciq are difficult, not easy, and that those who think problems between the two countries have ended with Kosovo's obtaining are wrong.
“cannot say that inherited problems in the Western Balkans can be solved in a package. But it's working on them being solved. The biggest push is the European future, so each is reflecting on the plains of the future and is not remaining the victim of memory of the past. I have discussed with other regional leaders. All have their own difficulties, but the region has nearly the same problems. Reform, reform, reform. Normally, any meeting with Aleksandar Vuciq is difficult. It's confrontational, with multiple differences, but with good will for resolving those issues that remain open. Anyone who thinks problems with Kosovo and Serbia have ended with Kosovo's declaration of independence is mistaken. Those who think Kosovo should not be dialogueed with Serbia are naive. Even those who think it's easy to dialogue with Serbia are wrong. I am convinced that this year the final historic agreement between Kosovo and Serbia will be reached. If it doesn't happen this year, we'll lose another decade. Until Kosovo and Serbia regulate these open issues between them, we will be hostage to each other in the European future”.
Kosovo has not only had friends and partners in state making. But there have been obstacles, if not hostility, Unable to pass Martti Ahtisaari's document in June and July 2007 to the Security Council, he has continued working with partners to co-ordinate independence. We have 115 recognitions, we've been organised in over 200 international organisations, almost every year after independence we've had economic growth of 4 percent, we have strong investments from abroad, the probably best infrastructure in the region. Not by chance are Kosovo citizens among the most optimistic in the region and Europe”.
If we act uniquely, with a joint team in negotiations, I think we will reach a solution, which Kosovo paves the way for membership in the United Nations. The agreement with Serbia implies removing the Russian veto into the UN Security Council. Our future does not pass through Serbia, but it is in the function of building good neighbourly”.
If we reach agreement with Serbia, then there will be no more five countries that do not recognise Kosovo, because we will be part of the United Nations. This agreement helps in all aspects of integration and development for Kosovo, but also for Serbia”.
