Syrian Human Rights Monitor declared on Thursday that at least 403 people were killed by a <x0-hysterical attack” that started Sunday, including 150 children. Almost 2, 120 are seriously injured.
The UN special envoy, Staffan de Mistura, stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire during a meeting with the United Nations Security Council, reports “Al Jazeera”, the Periscope broadcast.
The humanitarian situation in Eastern Gutan is terrible, so we need a truce, which prohibits indiscriminately bombing and promotions in Damascus,” he said.
He added that the ceasefire should be pursued by an immediate humanitarian approach and a relieved evacuation of people injured by eastern Guta and warned that it was a repeat of Aleppos.
Residents of eastern Gutas, most of whom are internally displaced, say there is nothing they can do and have nowhere to hide.
Rafat al-Abram lives in Douma and is a car mechanic. Air strikes over the last few days have stopped his work, as the road where he works was destroyed by bombing.
“Sometimes I fix civil defense ambulances, which are often hit due to their continued use,” he said.
The eastern gun is controlled by rebels, a mostly rural area on the outskirts of the capital, Damascus, which has been under government siege since 2013. About 400,000 Syrians live in that area.
Relief supplies are almost impossible from the ongoing conflict that in many cases humanitarian vehicles have also been attacked./Periscopi/
