The trial process, which Judge Ognen Starvrev heads, began with reading the indictment.
Prosecutor Naum Panovski said they remain in the initial indictment, with which the defendants are charged for terrorism.
Six people were sentenced to the case “Monstra” with life sentence on charges of terrorism.
At the dock today are four indictees, while the first indictees, Alil Demiri and Africa Ismailovic, for whom there are international arrest warrants for years, are on the run in Kosovo.
On November 24th, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Macedonia admitted defence complaints in the “Monstra” case. The first and second-degree bias on this subject has been abolished and turned into retrial at the Criminal Court.
Public prosecutor Ljiljana Spasovska called for the abolition of the first and second degree act and the return of subject “Monstra” to the retrial due to the unconfirmed actual situation, but also because of the eventual existence of silent conversations which could change the follow-up of the procedure.
The massacre near Smilkova Lake took place on 12 April 2012, Thursday, before the Christian Easter holiday, when the boys Kire Trickovski, Filip Slavkovski, Cvetanco Ackovski, Aleksandar Naqevski and fisherman Borce Stefanovski were killed.
For the five-fold murder at Smilkov Lake, Alil Demiri, Africa and Agim Ismailovic and Fejzi and Hakki Ashir and Sami Luta were sentenced to life in prison.
Following the abolition of the convictions, the Supreme Court in December last year released Agim Ismailovic, Haki Ashir, Sami Luta and Feyzi Ashir from custody and was appointed security measures. For the court, Alil Demiri and Africa Ismailovic for whom international arrest warrant has been announced are still elusive.
