The European Commission on 6 February introduced the Enlargement Strategy for Western Balkan Countries. In this strategy Kosovo was introduced equal to other states in our region, but not equal on the road to EU membership.
According to the Strategy, the two countries that have mostly moved in this direction are Serbia and Montenegro, which have since been opening negotiations with the EU for membership and are expected to be a member in 2025.
Of course, on this road to Serbia it is the establishment of full relations with the state of Kosovo.
On the other hand, Albania and Macedonia are the countries that have received candidate status, but have not yet opened negotiations. Following them came Bosnia, which of nine steps towards EU accession, has only taken the second step. Bosnia and Herzegovina has only completed its membership application.
And all in the end is Kosovo, which has just entered the long road to EU membership by signing it MSA, Stabilisation Association Agreement. This is the first step towards meeting conditions to become an EU member.
