The head of the North Korean People's Assembly, a ceremonial post held by Kim Jong Nam, will visit the regional-South city of Pyongchang this week, with the occasion of the winter Olympic games.
Peniani confirmed participation in the inauguration ceremony of the one to become the highest coral-verior official ever to visit South Korea.
The two Koreas will pass under the same flag at the opening ceremony. Despite signalling a softening of relations between the two countries, experts think this will have little impact on communist north nuclear ambitions. Kim Yongm will stay in the neighbouring country on a three-day visit, accompanied by a delegation of 22 members.
During his 90-year career, he has seen the leadership of all three North Korean leaders. At the ceremonial post of the head of the People's Assembly, he is usually responsible for conveying messages of comfort or greetings to foreign leaders.
Kim Yongm has been president of Parliament without power since 1998. Unlike current head Kim Jong, he has travelled abroad on official visits. In August 2017 he travelled to Iran to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Hasan Rouhan.
