A <x1-colored deputy”, a politician of African descent, Switzerland has already had it, at the national level. But the first black president of a Swiss municipality parliament is Thulani Thummann. The 34-year-old Social Democrat Party (SP) has recently been elected at the helm of the Ostremündingen municipality assembly, a Bern Parliament.
Thomas is the son of a Swiss politician and an African who grew up in Switzerland. He says that on his political path, skin color has never played a role, writes 20minute.ch.
The new mayor does not intend to abuse stories of concerns and harassment that he has been forced to endure in childhood and youth and even today transmits albinfo.ch. The second thing is we talk to each other, review prejudice against foreigners. After all, the entire planet is packed with foreigners”, he says.
Thommann works as a law instructor. He won a seat in the municipality's parliament five years ago while being re-elected with excellent results, as well as in 2016, sends albinfo.ch.
The youth-looking president says they still ask him to ID him to prove he's old-fashioned, he believes the time will come for the government to have <x0 coloured” on the country level. But for such a thing yet to be expected, he adds.
