LDK MP Vjosa Osmani has asked KSF minister not to recruit the KSF reserve component.
“Nini 5.2 of the comprehensive document on Kosovo's status, known as Ahtisaari's package, says the KSF will be easily armed and will not possess heavy weapons, such as heavy artillery tanks, however would consist of no more than 2,500 active soldiers and 800 reserves. The question is this: what is the total number of reserve soldiers in the KSF, why the KSF has failed to recruit 800 reserves now of 10 years from independence. How can we ask for additional powers when even those given us have not been fulfilled?”, Osman asked.
Responding to this question, KSF Minister Rrustem Berisha said that so far there are 359 KSF members in the reserve component, until there has been no recruiting since 2012.
“Since the establishment of KSF until 2012 The KSF has recruited and trained 359 members of the reserve component. Since 2012, there are no recruits, and the reasons why there are not many events, such as reviewing the security sector, the new structure that will be formed, sʹka after all the demand for the completion of the reserve sites. It's a condition I inherited. One of my objectives is to fulfill this reserve component”, Berisha said.
But MP Osmani has sought to know from the minister if she has demanded an additional budget not to have problems in the years to meet that priority.
“As far as the aloated budget is concerned, the Finance Ministry's priority is 3324 members. These include current FKS members, the civilian section, the reserve and the cadre. They're not meant for spare parts, but we've discussed this issue and I believe in collaboration with the MF in the future to be able to meet the reserve competent”, he stressed.
