Kosovo infant mortality mortality rate marks

Gevdet Goynovci, director of the Neonatology Clinic at the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo, tells Radio Free Europe that the actual mortality of babies has dropped to 8 billion, so eight of them die.

In contrast, in 2017 the Kosovo University Clinic of Neonatology, over 1,000 and 500 babies born, 199 babies have died in this clinic.

Gojnovci adds that the leading cause of infant deaths has largely been their low weight under 1,000 and 500 grams.

But Gojnovci further adds that despite the fact that infant mortality has marked decline over the years, he cites a problem, which, according to him, is quite disturbing.

“Neonatology specialization is out. That makes a lot of trouble for the future. However, I am thinking that this issue needs to be discussed and to know why it has come to this”, Goynovci says.

Meanwhile, in the Ministry of Health, they say that specialities for neonatology will be a priority depending on the needs of this field. Faik Hoti, director of this ministry's information department, says that the health of the mother and child has always been and is, as he says, priority until he explains specialities in this area.

The mother and child's health is our priority and primarily our infant mortality reduction and in this respect has employed specialists in neonatology, while the following is a” candidate.

Even Kosovo Parliament deputy Besa Battiu, a member of the Vetvendosje Movement's Health Commission, says that the factors that have contributed to the decline in infant mortality are numerous, citing the rise of quality of health services, as well as the advancement of health professionals in the field.

And what's true is there's a decrease in mortality during the postwar years, where infant mortality has been 31 billion or every thousand babies born 31 babies have died. According to the World Health Organization, it is considered that 32 percent of premature babies die from various factors until 54 percent of babies die after birth are due to premature childbirth.
