As long as Serbia and Montenegro have the potential deadline for membership in the European Union, by 2025, Kosovo has not been assigned any clear calendar deadline for possible membership by the EU Enlargement Strategy since yesterday, writes the newspaper “Zri” today.
On the other hand, Albania and Macedonia in this strategy are cited as two states for which recommendations for launching negotiations will be prepared, while Bosnia and Herzegovina highlights the possibility of candidate status.
While senior European Union officials see the position of Kosovo as equal to other states, they do not consider Kosovo connoisseurs of European integration issues.
According to these, Kosovo is found in this position as a result of its non-recognition by the five EU member states.
Otherwise, ten years ago Kosovo has declared independence while the country's former prime minister at the time, Hashim Thaci, now president, repeatedly stated that very soon the newest state would become part of the big European family.
Even, exactly ten years ago, he did not even reveal the date when Kosovo will declare independence, stating briefly: Kosovo knows the date. Ten years later Kosovo does not know the date when it will be able to join the EU, the same as neighboring states like Serbia-Montenegro know. /Zeri/
