Brigadier General Ralph Hoffman, director of NATO's advisory and liaison team and German officer with the highest military rank in Kosovo, along with the commander of the 48th German KFOR contingent, Lieutenant Colonel Hans Jürgen Elsen, handed over to KSF commander Lieutenant General Xhaman Rama, a total of 1260 supplies.
According to the KSF communiqué, the release of this material for the equipment of the next KSF hospital in Pristina is a visible expression of excellent relations between the German Bundesehr and Kosovo security forces.
Among the senior guests attending the ceremony held at Camp Fusor in Prizren were KSF Deputy Minister Agim Ceku and KFOR Chief of Staff General Lawrence R. Powell.
The Federal Republic of Germany further supports the development of KSF capabilities in consolidating security and stability in Kosovo and the region. The handover of the material relates to the transformation of German engagement in Kosovo and to the further participation of the Bundesehr in the KFOR mission. Because of improved security situation and after harmonisation with NATO, Germany until the end of 2018 reduces the number of its troops in Kosovo. The dogs' steps in this direction were the delivery of Camp Fusor to Cvilne Hill at Prizren's municipality last year and the closure of the Military Hospital early in the year. Sanitary material has a total volume of 22 gyms. Among them is an industrial container with medical treatment equipment. These include four modern surgical beds for examination and two valuable lamps for medical examinations. Adding to this is the delivery of extenuating and hygienic material, such as insect protection and disinfectant or leukemia and bandages of all kinds. Other medical devices, such as Pulsoximier, were handed over to them. In addition, camp Fusor equipment was handed over with a volume of 75 meters of loading, which can drop about five trucks. Here are tables, chairs and cabinets and office furniture for hospital equipment”, said the communique.
The Fusor camp in Prizren according to the KFOR communiqué, will be closed by the end of 2018 and the United Cobble Mission will be handed over to Kosovo ( U n NMIC.
“From 2019, German Bundesehr soldiers will serve only at Camp Film City, KFOR General Staff Base in Pristina. The priorities of future German engagement will continue to be the development of KSF capabilities. The Bundesiehr with this also makes a necessary and welcome contribution to Kosovo's stability and the security of its population in the future. Because of the improved security situation in Kosovo, the Federal Republic of Germany in line with NATO strategy and in accordance with NATO's international partners has decided to further reduce its contribution to the KFOR mission by the end of 2018. The decision on this is to assess the security situation in Kosovo by NATO's Supreme Commander for Europe. The first sign in connection with the reduction of the German contingent of KFOR was the completion of the use of Camp Fusor in the Cvileen Hill. In the southern hill over Prizren for about 18 years, German intelligence forces have been deployed. On July 26, 2017, the area of this Prizren municipality was handed over. Since then, this space has been exploited by the Kosovo Police. Another sign leading to the reduction of the German contingent of KFOR was the closure of the Military Hospital on 31 December 2017. This task will be taken over by many nations in KFOR's General Staff in Pristina. Another sign will be in the summer of 2018 the handover of Austrian-German responsibility to the (ORF) Operational Reserve in the hands of other NATO partners. Within the framework of measures cited for the German contingent of KFOR in 2018 will be marked with the return of the material to Germany. The closure of Camp Fusor in Prizren until the end of 2018 remains, and its surrender UNMIK at 2019”, said in communiqué.
Germany will continue to contribute to a safe environment in Kosovo through Bundesehr, even after the surrender of Camp Fushor to Prizren. In this case, it will focus on Pristina and the German contribution to KFOR's General Staff, as well as on the support of NATO's Managing and Interconnecting Team Director. The German contribution will pay particular attention to the support of the KSF's development.
