The visit to Kosovo by European officials, preceded on February 28th, takes place within their tour of the Balkans. They will first visit Macedonia, then Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and their last stop will be in Bulgaria.
This tour, starting on February 25th and ending on March 1st, takes place to present the EU strategy for the Western Balkan region.
Weeks ago, the European Commission introduced the new Enlargement Strategy, where clear timetables for EU membership were given only to Montenegro and Serbia.
This visit of European diplomats comes at the time when Kosovo's Assembly is making efforts to ratify the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro, which was signed in Vienna in 2015, broadcast Free Europe.
In two plenary sessions, the Parliament has failed to reach consensus to pass this agreement, which is one of the conditions set by the EU for visa liberalisation, in addition to the condition for fighting organised crime and corruption.
