European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker during his stay in Tirana said Western Balkan countries should view 2025 as the date when any of them could join the EU.
Junczer has said that the year 2025 is possible to enter the EU for all Western Balkan countries, not only for favourites, Reuters reports.
Contrary to what we read everywhere, the Commission and I do not say that only Serbia and Montenegro will become a member in 2025”, Junczer said, broadcast news.net.
He has said that Western Balkan countries must meet all criteria for membership.
Reuters recalls that Serbia and Montenegro are seen as favoured to join the EU and that Albania and Macedonia are expected to get the green framework to start EU accession negotiations in June.
The EC president, together with Commissioner Johannes Hahn, will visit Belgrade today, where they will discuss with Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq.
