Deputy Prime Minister Hoxhaj has met with the chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy (AFET), David McAllister, who has thanked him for supporting Kosovo in visa liberalisation, while calling for his support so that after Kosovo performs its internal duties to create a moment within the European Parliament, visa liberalisation is granted to Kosovo citizens within 2018.
On this topic, Hoxhaj has also discussed the high support of visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens, Eurodeputen Tanja Fajon, and Slovak Eurodeput Edward Kukan.
“I have met with Kosovo's major supporter in the European Parliament, European Parliament Foreign Policy Committee Chairman David McAllister, Eurodeputen Tania Fajon, and Slovak Eurodeput Edward Kukan. I have asked them for support in the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo citizens, as such means the individual integration of every citizen of Kosovo into the European Union, and it is the fundamental right of citizens to move freely to Europe”, Hoxhaj has said.
Hoxhaj has said that unless visa liberalisation is done for Kosovo, continuing dialogue with Serbia will be meaningless.
“If Serbia is richly rewarded because of dialogue with Kosovo, Kosovo should be rewarded in a balanced way in this direction. Therefore, if Kosovo does not receive liberalisation after carrying out its duties within 2018, this dialogue will lose meaning, and not only on the political agenda, but also on the support of citizens”, Hoxhaj said.
Hoxhaj has also held meetings with Venice Commission President Gianni Buquicchio and the Secretary General of the Commission with whom they have discussed Kosovo's co-operation with the commission.
