The United States Presidential Administration, Donald Trump, said it would last for another 18 months for defence status for about 7,000 Syrians.
This enables them to remain in the U.S. until civil war in their country continues.
Secretary of the Department for National Security Kirsjen Nielsen said that “after carefully reviewing conditions on the ground”, found it necessary to extend the Interim Defence Status for Syria.
Without continuing this status, which would expire in March, the Syrians would face the possibility of returning to Syria, REL.
Civil war in Syria has killed over 400,000 people, since it started in March 2011. The conflict has also displaced about half the pre-war population.
