Leicestershire police said there had been a major incident following reports of explosions on Hinkley Street around 7:00 Sunday.
Four other people are in hospital with multiple injuries.
Shane O'Neill said police have the conviction that even more people who have not yet been found and that police research is continuing. At this stage of investigation, the blast has nothing to do with terrorism, he said.
Firecraft Service spokeswoman said the building, which consisted of a shop on the first floor and apartments above it, had suffered collapse. The Witnesses said that the store was owned by a Londonian before, but then it became a Polish supermarket.
O'Neill said the site was dangerous so officers and trained firemen worked on it. “Operation of search for salvation still continues and it is important to find as many people as possible,” he added
