The Ministry of Diaspore and Strategic Investments, through a media communique, has announced that Minister Dardan Gashi on the first day of his visit to Washington D. C has met with the conventioner, simultaneously the great supporter of Kosovo, Elliot Engel.
Engel has assured that the US, both now on the 10th anniversary of Kosovo's citizenship, will also in the future be alongside it.
“Kosovo, as an independent and sovereign state, should have the army and visa liberalisation”, Congresswoman Engel said, while adding further that Serbia should not behave in the way it is doing, referring to what it called the blockade game towards Kosovo.
On the other hand, during the meeting, Minister Gashi announced Congresswoman Engel on the processes Kosovo is currently going through, reflecting on suggestions from the U.S. Congresswoman and Government on two issues: Special Court and Demarket.
“initiation for the abolition of the Special Court will not be postponed, we stand behind international obligations taken as a state. Likewise, demarcation with Montenegro is an issue that is taking the form of a solution, so we expect results in this direction too”, Gashi has said.
When we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Kosovo's independence, we are thanking all those who made irreplaceable contributions to its freedom and citizenship, where the extremely important place is for Congresswoman Engel. It was Kosovo's voice in the Capitol, at the time of ethnic cleansing of Albanians, but even at the time of Kosovo's independence”, Gashi said, adding that Kosovo, now as an independent state, has opened up and is greatly improving the overall climate for investment. This is evidenced even by the signing of the contract to build the new thermal power plant by the American company, worth $1.2 billion.
Washington D.C. meetings. will continue with the World Bank and the Albanian community, while Zv. Prime Minister Gashi will also participate in the celebration of Kosovo's 10th anniversary of Independence, organised by the Kosovo Embassy in Washington, along with senior State Department officials and Kosovo State leaders President Hashim Thaci and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, as well as other senior American officials
