Blerim Shala shows why Oliver Ivanov was killed

Blerim Shala, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci's adviser, considers the assassination of Oliver Ivanovic to be a consequence of the failure to adhere to the rule of power in northern Kosovo and of not implementing Brussels' agreements. In an interview for the “show Slobodno srpski”, Shala has said that Ivanovic's “murder has been committed in order that in the north [...]
I think that Oliver's murder, no matter who ordered it and who did it, is meant to preserve some status quo so that there can be no progress, but I think it has achieved exactly the opposite, as no one has so far. I think, or believe, or want to believe, that Pristina and Belgrade should reach the common conclusion that the situation in the north can no longer be tolerated, because it is mostly about ordinary citizens of northern Kosovo, mostly Serbs living there and who are afraid. We live in 2018, and after all that happened in Kosovo, we have a situation in which most of the citizens living in Kosovo are afraid, and we absolutely have to tolerate this”, Shala said.
According to him, “if we had implemented a job properly, we would have had a car without a January 16th in Mitrovica, because that car was probably used to carry out the murder of Oliver Ivanovic”. On the other hand, the Jurisprudence agreement has been signed since 2015, and only last September did its implementation begin.
“Vakumi is not tolerated in justice and security. When you have a vacuum, you see who runs the trial, when you have no one to control car plates, when you have a cop who started operating not until 2014, then you have a climate of distrust, you have climate that can be misused. It is known that we have had murders even before the assassination of Oliver Ivanovic, I think there was an accounting between criminals who had come from Serbia and even lived in northern Mitrovica. So, northern Mitrovica became some sort of crime shelter”, Shala thinks.
He stresses that the events following Ivanovic's assassination have dismissed the version of any interethnic conflict.
“Situate in the north after the assassination gave no indication that there is any doubt that there is any national motive killing, the barricades, sêpatia, straining new to the north”.
Shala has mentioned, like the “a clear message from the West”, even the recent statement by German diplomacy chief Sigmar Gabriel, who said that the “north of Kosovo exists mass criminality organised, with powerful people not reluctant to kill or kill, and that this international community does not tolerate”, writes Express.
Civic Initiative leader “Serbia, Democracy, Justice” (SDP) Oliver Ivanovic was killed in front of his office in northern Mitrovica on the morning of January 16th.
