The Serbian newspaper Politicalo reported today that Austrian deputykancellar Heinz-Christian Strache, who has said Kosovo is part of Serbia.
It is his spokesman, Martin Glier, who has said his boss has not said that no moment “Kosovo is Serbia”, writes Krone.at.
“Australia has recognised Kosovo as one of the first countries. Austria supports both Kosovo and Serbia's European perspective. This is the orientation of the Federal government and nothing will change”, Glier said.
Independent Kosovo is a fact and reality and Austria has recognised it”.
Glier has added that Strache is of the opinion to find a compromise for the Serb minority in Kosovo, with an autonomy status, such as South Tyrol. According to him Austria should play the role of the neutral mediator and contribute to long-term peace in the Balkans and an approach between Pristina and Belgrade.
