Most of the problem is facing Kosovo youth. Sami Shala is a young man from the Podujevo municipality and is unemployed. He completed his master's schooling at the Philological Faculty, Journalism Branch.

The situation as unemployed is a feeling and a serious state since you always have to live childly lives dependent on others. It is even more serious than childhood, since besides financial dependence on your family, you have to live with shame and feeling worthless! ”

The youth from Podujevo complains about the social-political situation in the country, where concrete institutions are not making solutions that the low unemployment rate is.

“The sociopolitical situation in Kosovo is heavy everything has taken on the form of politicisation in all areas even in the media. I worked late in the media as a media keeper. Close to three years I worked as a journalist I had a job opportunity as an information officer in the Podujevo municipality, but the competition was cancelled with the argument that none of the candidates are worthy of the applied position”, he shows, adding that he is not registered in the employment entity.

The majority of the unemployed in Kosovo are young and middle education-level. However, recent data from the last census in December 2017 was alarming.

According to Kosovo Statistics Agency data, for the third three months of 2017 it turns out that 30.2% of the population capable of work are unemployed.
While over 900,000 persons were registered as unemployed in the Ministry of Labour and Social Management in 2017 alone.

Of these statistics, males have the largest number of job seekers, where in response from MPMS there are 51 thousand and 631, while women are 42 thousand and 235.
Over 6 thousand people have been hired by this number.

And for the first two months of 2018, a total of 513 people have been employed.
According to the report, the most pronounced unemployment is in women by 38.0 %, compared to men, 27..8%. The most significant unemployment rate is among 15-24-year-old groups, with 53.3%.

While the highest employment is in men (48.1%), female employment is 12.5%. Women are employed, mainly in the education, health care and trade sectors, with 47.9% of them, while males are mainly employed in the construction, production and trade sectors, with 47.0%.

Economic sectors, which lead by employment, continue to be: trade by 14.9%; construction by 13..8%; production by 13.3%; and education by 9.2%. Other sectors, however, participate at a lower rate in employment.

As for employees with contracts, 28.1% of employed persons have permanent contracts in their main work, while 71.9% have temporary contracts.

According to AFP results, at TM3 2017, the inactive power is high enough at 56.5%, with particular focus on women at 79.8%, compared to men, 33.4%.
Compared to last year, the results of the Labour Power Survey published by the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) show that in the first nine months of 2017 unemployment has increased by 2.9 percent compared to the unemployment rate registered by this agency in 2016.
