Turkey sends heavy tanks, artillery to border with Syria

The Syrian Human Rights Observatory reported on Sunday that about 100 motor vehicles and heavy artillery were detected in northern Syria, including tanks, obus batteries, heavy machine guns, and buses carrying commando forces.
Some of the military equipment and personnel are located along the border with Syria, while the rest have crossed the border line through the city of Elbeyl.
At the weekend, senior officials, who established the semi-united Kurdish region in Syria five years ago, appealed US President Donald Trump to rethink his decision to evacuate 2,000 American troops from Syria after their existence was threatened.
The statements followed Turkish head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan's threat that Turkey will eliminate any Kurdish militant or Islamic group I SIS operating in Syria.
The Kurdish community represents 15% of the Syrian population, but many fear that the American attraction will allow Turkey to expand its sphere of influence in the region.
