The first day of the summit gave hope for progress for reports between the two countries despite the Trump's statements earlier that it would increase tariffs, which would increase tensions that have already affected financial markets.

This year's summit has proved to be a major test for the group of 20 industrialised states whose leaders had gathered in 2008 to help save the global economy.
Delegates from the G20 states have been working late at night to reach agreement on the summit's recent declaration.
