SIova today during campaign launching for legalisation of weapons by the motto “with letters”, has shown that 31 murders were committed by firearms.
He has expressed concern with the large number of criminal acts caused by gun possession. According to him, the legalisation process would affect lowering the killings, Inseder writes.
“31 murders were committed by firearms. We've confiscated weapons even though this confiscat trend has dropped. In 2017 we have 1,200 confiscated weapons, and in 2018 we have 1171 weapons about 13 thousand pieces of ammunition, and these figures show that we have large quantities of weapons owned by citizens”, he declared.
On the other hand, the Co-ordinator of the Strategy for Control of Small Weapons, and explosives, Izmi Zeka, said this process is important for Kosovo and one of the MPB priorities in its address to controlling small and light weapons.
According to him, although Kosovo has made progress in gun control still remains a weapon control challenge, until it has stressed that Kosovo Police have seized about 14,000 weapons.
Toy Zeka said that the use of small and light arms represents threats to citizens and their lives and the socioeconomic situation.
During the day today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has organised the media conference, launched the campaign for legalisation of weapons by the motto “with letters”, which can take place from 17 December to 17 June 2019.
