Thousands of demonstrators backed by opposition parties marched Saturday evening in Belgrade, calling against President Aleksandar Vucic.
Despite the bad weather, placard demonstrators demanded the head of state's resignation, accusing him of creating an Ottoman power and of using public media to attack political opponents.
The call also went against ruling policies with the goal of improving election standards in the country.
A day earlier, several opposition parties signed a document demanding more effective measures to prevent abuse by public funds during the election campaign period, control of the election process, both in Serbia and Kosovo, and punishment according to the penal code of individuals who abuse the campaign.
President Vucic said in his reaction to the protesters that he would not agree with their demands, and that the most likely solution would be early elections.
Saturday's protest against the government follows that December 8th, and it was the biggest demonstration the opposition has held since spring 2017, when thousands of young Serbs protested for weeks against electing President Vucic as head of state.
Organisers have warned to hold the upcoming protest on 16 January, on the anniversary of the Serbian politician's death in Kosovo, Oliver Ivanovic, whose murder increased tensions between the two countries.
