A Historic Day
Today's decision by the Republic of Kosovo to establish the Kosovo Army is certainly one of the most important decisions after the country's declaration of independence.
The successful transformation of the Kosovo Protection Corps in the Kosovo Security Force and today in the Kosovo Army was done with a deep co-operation and partnership with NATO and the most important supporting countries in Kosovo. Here is the primary role of the United Kingdom, Germany, but should not remember the contribution of many other NATO member states that still have their contingents in Kosovo today.
I had the special honor and privilege when as president of the country I had the quality of the Supreme Commander of this defense mechanism. Daily, listening carefully and joyfully increases and development.
I felt special satisfaction when NATO's top representatives spoke words of respect and concern for the excellent formations that were set up and for their results. I know it took a lot of work and a lot of effort to get to today. I was convinced that this day would come.
It's a historic day for Kosovo. It is the day that marks a new era of our grower.
I am very convinced that the Kosovo Army will be a worthy defender of the ideals of freedom. Protectors of the ideals that have been sacrificed for many generations on the hard way we've gone. The Kosovo Army will be guaranteed to protect the freedom of all citizens of the country.
It will continue to develop in partnership with NATO and in permanent friendship with the armies of the most powerful countries in the world, which have supported Kosovo without reservation.
