Student Parliament Speaker Arben Elshani has mentioned some of the activities they have made since receiving the mandate as a new facility in October, but accused several student organisations, saying they are trying to undermine the activities of the Student Parliament.
According to him, near the elections for the University of Pristina Steering Council, power-related political groups, along with several clan groups within the UPI have been activated through various forms of pressure and are trying to undermine the work of the student parliament.
“We will protect this institution in any form, we call on all leaders, political representatives since the president, the chairman of the assembly, the prime minister and the minister of education not to interfere in the work of the Student Parliament“, he has said.
Student Parliament Secretary Rheson Frangu said they refuse to serve any interest and political parties that undermine UP's autonomy. He said some people who had neither the MP's mandate have illegally attempted to hold a meeting to dismiss the president of the Student Parliament.
“UP Secretary Esat Kelmendi has sided and violated rates in power, preventing our work and favouring other groups. He had to intervene in the Steering Council where, through a verdict, he gave a warrant to several deputies in the Student Parliament and invited the meeting for tomorrow. Even in respect of this decision to divide the mandates of the three members, the list says there are violations because the secretary The UP's wants illegal to give mandate to a student whose mandate has been granted for violations of the election regulation. Also, in the division of the mandate, the same has not respected the gender quota envisioned with election regulation“, he said.
And Student Parliament Deputy Speaker Milot Kolshi said that perhaps someone needs a Student Parliament tool as it used to be, but they won't allow it.
There's a political interference in the UP, but we're gathering facts and at the next conference, with names and surnames we're going to present to the entire clan network that really choked it. UP and the Student Parliament“, he said.
He added that he would not allow influence in Parliament but would protect it with all legal means. /kp
