Russian Army Chief of General Staff General Valeri Guerassimov met today with NATO forces Commander in Europe Curtis Scaparrotti, the Russian Defence Ministry announced.
This meeting, which took place in Baku, Azerbaijan's capital, comes a week after an ultimatum issued by the Atlantic Alliance and Washington to Russia, giving it 60 days to return to the high-ray Nuclear Arms Treaty norms (INF) of 1987, contrary to the US, will withdraw from the deal.
NATO and the US accuse Moscow of violating the INF treaty for establishing a new missile system, charges that have been rejected by Russia as groundless.
