The presidential group of the Social Democrat Initiative, Bilal Sheriff, has cited statements by EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn, made during yesterday, where he has confirmed that the blame for visa liberalisation delays are EU procedures.
According to him, Kosovo has met all conditions for liberalisation and such delays are being made due to its EU procedures. Everyone we've had meetings with strangers, we've been told you deserve visa liberalisation, you've met all the conditions, but you understand that you're late on the demarcation issue and now we have the internal elections. If you had finished earlier, the visas would have been liberalised in 2018, and we wouldn't have bothered the election issue. So who stopped you, 88 votes you had, for you more importantly, was holding power with the PDK than visa liberalisation”, he said.
He has added that visa liberalisation delays are even stating to the latter's officials. As for the election-holding requirement, the Sheriff has said that it defines the Constitution, not to go to business whenever parties lose in the elections.
