Sustainable electricity supply for the private sector is key to business activity. The lack of sufficient production in this sector reflects on the intensification of supply and then results in multiple losses for businesses. This was told today at the table organised by the American Economic Oda in Kosovo, where the issue of the current electricity supply situation in the country was discussed.
Valdrin Luka, Minister of Economic Development, announced those present with the current situation in the country in terms of electricity supply. He said the ministry he runs is constantly engaged in order to comply with market requirements, thus providing stable energy supplies to both businesses and citizens. Minister Luka added that the disruptions, which are usually made, are mainly due to the overload and long-term work on the electricity network, and that there are no reductions due to the lack of production because lack of energy is being provided by import.
Luka also said that due to political reasons, due to the failure to meet agreements with Serbia, the interconction line with Albania has failed to become operational, which has delayed COST's planned investments.
Petit Pepaj, Director of the Energy Regulatory Office, said this institution, which in 2015 until now has facilitated the issue of energy supply for businesses by offering them 15% discounts. He cited the unstable energy level recently as a consequence of the lack of plant sustainability, citing the lack of new capacities in this sector as the main obstacle in its development. Pepaj said the consumer is ZRE's top priority, which is working on monitoring the sustainable power supply in order to avoid unnecessary power cuts.
Furthermore, businesses present had the opportunity to address the main concerns and challenges they are facing in this regard by appealing to relevant institutions for readiness in this regard.
